Chone Ecuador

It is mainly an agricultural city but is surrounded by beautiful landscapes and rivers. Chone is dynamic, hospitable with working men and beautiful women.

The city was founded on 7 August 1735 by the Catholic religious Fray Jose Antonio Cedeño and named "Villa de San cayetano de Chone".

The main activities of its inhabitants include agriculture, trade, and livestock.

This last item becomes the main livestock center of the Manabi province. There are around 300 thousand heads of cattle adapted to the harsh conditions of the tropical mountain of Chone Ecuador.

There are different attractions and places of interest such as the Chone river, Cerro Guayas, where you can see the figure of Christ, the galleras, and the October celebrations.

The main river is the Chone, which leads to an estuary of Bahia de Caraquez and as its tributaries are the Garrapata, San Lorenzo and the Tosagua rivers from the South, which originates in the mountains of Bolivar and Junin.

In Chone Ecuador there are extensions of the main universities, like the UTM, the ULEAM, Catholic University, University of Loja, allowing young Choneros to choose the profession of their choice to serve to the development of the country in the near future.

The potential of Chone is in its beautiful landscapes, and rural tourism where fishing can be practiced. Another attraction are its mountains, where hiking and adventure tourism is developed.

There is an archaeological tourism site at La Dibujada, where archaeological remains of the tribes "Ñauzas" and "Chunos" were recently found. Chone Ecuador has the country's largest wetland reserve at "La Segua".

Near Chone you can visit the best beaches of Ecuador. You can also relax in the small fishing villages along the coast of Manabi and enjoy its tranquility and eat amazing seafood.

The economy in the Manabi province is based mainly in the cultivation of cacao, bananas, cotton, cattle among others. On the industrial part, there is Tuna canning, tobacco, and the production of alcoholic beverages.

The closest beaches to Chone are about two hours away in different directions. They include Crucita Beach, San Vicente, San Clemente and of course the city of Manta.

Manta City is an important part of Manabi province. It is known for its important tuna fishing fleet, the production and bottling of vegetable oil, and the commercialization of Panama Straw Hats Manta is an attractive city to visit.
