The Galapagos are located 600 miles west of the country of Ecuador, Northwest of South America.

The islands are composed bye 13 stunning islands (of which 5 are inhabited), surrounded by countless smaller islets and rock outcroppings.

It is a World Heritage site, the Galapagos Islands or the Archipelago of Colon (which is the official name), is a province of Ecuador as well as a national park and marine reserve.

Washed by tropical waters of the Panama Current from the north and the cold, nutrient-rich waters of the Humboldt Current from the south plus the Cromwell Current from the west, the Galapagos Islands feature an amazing diversity of sea life.
