Galapagos Darwin Arch

Important Sites to Visit on Each Galapagos Island:

San Cristobal Island

It is also called Chatham Island in English. The capital city of Galapagos is located here the name of the town is Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. This is one of the biggest Islands in the Archipelago.

Your eyes will never get tired of seeing the dramatic volcanic sights, including famous Kicker Rock out in the ocean.

Delight yourself watching frigate birds, sea lions, giant tortoises, blue and red footed boobies, marine iguanas, dolphins, and swallow-tailed gulls, among others.

One of the best Galapagos tourist attractions from this Island is the El Junco lake where you will be able to see beautiful endemic birds. This Island is also a great location to practice Galapagos Surfing


Santa Cruz Island

The name in English is Indefatigable Island in English. This is the second largest Island in this Archipelago. Puerto Ayora is the main city of this Island. A beautiful site called Academy Bay is located here.

It is also home to the Galapagos National Park and the Charles Darwin Research Station. There is a giant tortoise breeding program aimed to maintain the giant tortoises of Galapagos.

There are extraordinary lava tunnels. The Pit Craters (Los Gemelos) is an outstanding area for birdwatching and observation of the incredible flora of the highlands.

Isabela Island

The name is Albemarle in English. This is the largest Island in Galapagos. The Equator Line crosses this Island.

One of the main Galapagos tourist attractions of this Island is Urbina Bay which is located at the foothills of Alcedo Volcano and Darwin volcano. It has a dark volcanic sand beach.

You can see impressive lava flows from volcano eruptions years ago. Look for gaunt marine skeletons as evidence that this once was ocean and now is land.

The main attraction is a compound of small brackish lagoons very much like a desert oasis with lagoon birds, including seasonal Galapagos Flamingos

The main town is Puerto Villamil. At Punta Moreno you can enjoy a spectacular view of Alcedo, Sierra Negra and Cerro Azul volcanoes.

Fernandina Island

Its name is Narborough in English, it is one of the youngest Island volcanoes of our planet. and the third in size from Galapagos.

Walk on black lava rocks surrounded by hundreds of marine iguanas, see flightless cormorants, penguins, pelicans, sea lions and mangrove forests.

Floreana Island

It is also called Santa Maria Island. This Island has many Galapagos tourist attractions such as Post Office Bay where you can visit the famous wooden barrel, which was a postal service set up by the whalers of the 18 th century.

The locations of Champion and Devil's Crown have beautiful coral formations and it's Great for Snorkeling

La Loberia islet is a great place to enjoy watching sea lion colonies. Endless numbers of large parasitic cones take over the landscape.

Baltra Island

It is also known as South Seymour in English. It is one of the smaller Islands in the Archipelago.

The main airport is located here and this is where you will arrive from mainland Ecuador.

Mosquera is a spot with a great sandy bank just north of Baltra, home to a large colony of Sea Lions.

Genovesa Island

Its name in English is Tower. Among its Galapagos tourist attractions is that this Island has a high concentration of birds such as frigatebirds, red footed boobies, lava gulls, tropic birds, doves, storm petrels and Darwin's finches.

Rabida Island

Rabida Island is also called Jervis Island in English. It is one of the smallest Islands in Galapagos. The main attractions are its red sand beaches and a saltwater lagoon inhabited by flamingos and a Galapagos Sea Lions

North Seymour

This Island has a flat shape due to an uplifting event thousands of years ago. It is located north of Baltra Island. Its main Galapagos tourist attractions are the endemic Palo Santo trees, blue footed boobies, swallow tailed gulls and Galapagos Frigatebirds

If the ocean shows a swell, sea lions will surf it well. This is where humans don't touch nature, but where nature touches humans.


Espanola Island

Its name in English is Hood. This Island is one of the most eye-catching Galapagos tourist attractions. Gardner bay is a coral white sand beach with beautiful turquoise waters. Sea lions and mockingbirds are all around.

It is a wonderful place for swimming and snorkeling at the beach and nearby islets. Punta Suarez Is a site where you can walk on lava rocks along a trail dotted with nests of blue footed boobies and Nazca boobies, a colony of endemic marine iguanas and waved albatrosses. More About Espanola Island

Santiago Island

The name in English of this Island is James. This Island has some good Galapagos tourist attractions like in James Bay where you can observe Darwin's Finches and Galapagos hawks. Near the shores of the Island you can experience excellent spots for birdwatching too.

Sombrero Chino Perhaps, this is one of the most remarkable examples of volcanic activity. This volcanic cone is surrounded by aquamarine colors mixed with basaltic blacks. It is a small islet near Santiago Island.
