The Cotopaxi National Park is one of the main natural protected areas of Ecuador. The whole area is an ideal attraction for nature lovers.

Due to the cold climate that usually surrounds the National Park, the vegetation presents characteristics of a moorland ecosystem.
In the lower zone you find beautiful and extensive pine wood forests, pumamaqui bushes, native of the Andes.
Capuli which is an Andean cherry, gentians, blueberries and other native plants like quishuar, valeriana, romerillo and quinua.
In the higher areas there are chuquirahuas (Chuquiragua jussieui), ishu straw and lichens.
